Warframe - Frost Wallpaper & Alt Helmet Design

Practicing more with this between classes. Learning a ton, too! The helmet is my own design for an alternative to the character in the wallpaper. Studying this style complements what I've had in my head for a while, which I'm very happy about.


The wallpaper is for a fan-made minigame I'm helping with, based on the original Warframe game by Digital Extremes.

Practice

A couple pieces using characters from the F2P game Warframe. I love the designs in this game, so I'm just using them for practice (as in fanart).

Creature Head Variations

Practicing variation of designs within the same silhouette. I took the variations a little bit further with some quick values to experiment with some dimension, but nothing too serious.


I'm also finally getting more comfortable doing lineart in PS... woo!

Portrait practice

A portrait from reference. I'm trying to get used to some restrictions for practice, so this one's done just with the default hard round brush in PS.
I tried to prioritize anatomy and light over details, trying to find out a comfortable way for me to do these quickly. So far so good, I think :)

Figure sketches

Some stuff from my sketchbook. I've been attending some life-drawing sessions for the first time and I have to say that I love it. It's definitely not the same that drawing from a picture.
I only wish we had some more time to draw the pose, but I can imagine how hard that must be for the model. Seriously, props to those guys!

These range from 5 - 30 minutes (I think the one on the top is like 40 mins, maybe).

Galapagos Turtle Study

I went to the zoo a while ago to get references. First time I ever saw a Galapagos Turtle in real life! A few of them got really close and I got the chance to take some pictures to study from. They're just too cool.

W.I.P.

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while. I moved to Ecuador to work with my dad for the rest of the year. Still getting used to the whole thing and got other things to do, so drawing has been limited to just practice lately. Nothing I'd really care to show.

Buuut here's something I've been working on :D it's just a WIP right now. Don't know how far I'll take it or if I'll just leave it like this, so right now it makes sense to post it here while I decide.

I'll start posting more often as I get used to the new environment. Shouldn't take long, really, so I might as well start now.
