2016 and some new stuffffff

Ok, so first off: Just wanted to let everyone who visits know that I've been using my Instagram and Facebook pages much more often than the Blog to show my recent artwork. 2015 was a pretty busy year, thankfully, and I often forget about all the sites that I have to update when I post online.

So I'll still post here every now and then, but you're better off just following me in the (more accessible and easier-to-update) sites and social media! Hope you guys have a wonderful 2016, and I hope you enjoy what I produce from now on too!

Again in case you missed them:

BUT. Now on to some actual new work:

I spent a few days worth of free time working on this piece, titled "Leviathan's Chains". I was pretty proud of it at the time, I have to admit, but I've been studying more since then and I'm fairly confident in that I can do slightly better now. :) Still, I feel like it was a step in the right direction!

Basically the "possibly" irrational reason the ocean fascinates me/scares me to death.

And of course a couple other sketches that I've liked. Check out my other sites for more, and as always, thank you all for watching! :)

Victory

Posted this one a while ago on my Facebook. I'm mostly posting there and on Instagram, so feel free to follow me there! :)

And as a bonus, here's a process breakdown of some of my decisions when making this piece. Hope it's helpful! Any tips or comments are of course welcome.

Sketches and WIPs

I've been messing around a lot with different ways of starting paintings and different processes altogether. Some work, some don't, but as a result of experimentation I have a bunch of half-made stuff. Some of it is good enough to show (and in some cases to take them further), so here's a little seak peek into what's going on!

Crustacean Dragon

Done for the Outcast Odyssey contest held at Deviantart.com! For some reason the colors may look a bit different here than on the DA page, so here's a link to the entry: http://josea302.deviantart.com/art/Crustacean-Dragon-507112511

I'll post process shots soon! I didn't save them too often here, but at least they give a general idea of what I did.

Redbubble Shop

Hey everyone.

I've been a bit busy lately, so I often forget to update this site with personal work. There's some new stuff I'm almost ready to show though!

In the mean time, I opened a shop over at Redbubble.com if you're interested in prints, iPhone cases, or other cool stuff like that. Here's the link: http://www.redbubble.com/people/joseochoa

Thanks for the support!

Cathedrals

Latest Work

A WIP for a contest over at Warframe.com. I got busy before the contest ended so it's not exactly finished, but at least I can post it here!

And a personal piece: "The Order"

Nyx's Army

More fan art between jobs. This is finally getting easier to achieve.

Turtle Temple - WIP

This is a progress shot of one of my more recent paintings. This one started as a 30min sketch (below) and I liked the idea enough to keep working on it.
Right now I'm focusing on finishing the temple and the waterfalls, which I'm not even sure will end up there anyways.

Speedpaints

Here's a few speedies I did for some Speedpainting facebook groups. Just some fun practice between work. I've done a few more, but these are my favorites of the lot.

"Ghost" - 1 hour.

"King Raven" - 30 minutes.

"Turtle Temple" - 30 minutes.

Nekros Thanatos Helmet (Warframe)

Another helmet. Accidentally (or rather distractedly) used a similar design I had previously used for another helmet. I'll need to pay more attention when getting stuff from my sketchbook :)
At least those two are out of the way! Moving on to other ideas...

Warframe - Frost Wallpaper & Alt Helmet Design

Practicing more with this between classes. Learning a ton, too! The helmet is my own design for an alternative to the character in the wallpaper. Studying this style complements what I've had in my head for a while, which I'm very happy about.

The wallpaper is for a fan-made minigame I'm helping with, based on the original Warframe game by Digital Extremes.

Practice

A couple pieces using characters from the F2P game Warframe. I love the designs in this game, so I'm just using them for practice (as in fanart).

(Warframe is property of Digital Extremes studio, this is just some fanart.)

Journey On

Done for class as a technique test to take thumbs to a finish :) I really enjoyed this one!
